Acoustics Society was established in 1964 and is a secondary society affiliated to the Chinese Physics Society. Established in 1978, the Applied Acoustics Society is a secondary society affiliated to the China Electronics Society. After negotiations between Wang Dezhao, Ma Dayou, Ying Chongfu, Wei Rongjue and Wei Moyi, In March 1985, The Acoustics Society of the Chinese Physics Society and the Applied Acoustics Society of the Chinese Electronics Society merged, The Chinese Acoustic Society was formally formed. In October of the same year, the Chinese Acoustic Society held its first national member congress in Nanjing. Academician Ying Chongfu served as the first chairman of the Society, and Mr. Wang Dezhao and Mr. Ma Dayou served as honorary chairmen. The society is located in Beijing. Its previous directors are Ying Chongfu, Guan Dinghua, Chen Tong, Zhang Renhe, Hou Chaohuan, Jing Tian and Wang Xiaomin. Currently, it is the 8th Council.
